I absolutely love "Dancing With The Stars". That show is just phenomenal. I love watching every week to see how the stars will do in their new dances. I can't believe the show started 5 years ago! It doesn't seem like it's been that long, but it apparently has. Last night, the show had their 200th episode. They opened the show with a performance from some of the pros from all 11 seasons, danced to the very first song from the very first show, "Crazy In Love" by Beyonce'. I must say, it was a very well choreographed, very well performed routine. Though I could have done without Lacey Schwimmer's little skank move when she first came out. They need to put some clothes on her!
Anyway, I think the stars are getting better and better each week, with the exception of Bristol Palin and Kurt Warner. Kurt though, he is getting slightly better each week, but "Bristol The Pistol" needs to pack up and leave! The poor girl, I can understand where she's coming from with her shyness. I used to be painfully shy, but when I started dancing at church, my shell of shyness slowing started chipping away, and when I started ballroom dancing last year, I completely shed my shell of shyness! So I understand where she's coming from, but you'd think at this point in the competition she'd be more confident in herself and not so shy. But since that's obviously not gonna happen anytime soon, SHE NEEDS TO GO!
Kyle Massey really surprised me this season. I really didn't expect much of him, but when he came out on the very first episode of season 11 and busted out that spectacular cha-cha, I was blown away! The boy can dance!! He is a very good actor, so I think that helps him out alot in this competition, because you kind of have to act with each different dance. Rumba being the dance of love, you have to have passion and love in your eyes, and great chemistry with your partner. Cha-cha being the sexy, flirty dance, you have to be fun, flirty, sexy, and care-free. That must be why cha-cha is my favorite dance, haha.
I loved the team dances they did last night. Those were AWESOME! They had two former competitors from the show, Kristi Yamagucci and Apolo Anton Ohno, be the captains of two teams made up of the remaining contestants of this season. I am Team Apolo all the way baby! I think his team did much much much better than Team Kristi. Obviously the judges did too, because Team Apolo got 27 points, while Team Kristi only got 23.
I remember when Apolo competed on the show. That was one of my favorite seasons. Along with season 3 with Mario Lopez, and whichever season Aaron Carter was on :) I am so glad that Apolo won his season. Julianne Hough is a great dancer and obviously a wonderful teacher, but Apolo also had some natural born talent, Julianne just had to bring it out of him :) I think my favorite dances of theirs were their "I Like To Move It" Samba, and their "Bust A Move" freestyle. I don't really know why, but I think Apolo is just so freakin hot! Haha. I just love everything about him...
And speaking of the hot men of DWTS, Mario Lopez is so sexxxxaaaayyyyy!!! He totally should've won season 3! Emmit Smith most certainly did NOT deserve to win! Mario was a much better dancer than Emmit. He was robbed of a very well deserved mirror ball trophy. Curse you, Emmit Smith. Curse you.
I can't believe season 11 has almost come to a close already. It seems like just yesterday it started, and next week is the quarter finals :( I don't want it to be over yet! I really enjoy watching it every week. It's kinda like fun homework for me, since I used to be a ballroom dancer. It's my last connection to ballroom dancing. Well, besides my friends from my old studio, haha. But we don't really talk anymore :( So, yeah it's pretty much my last connection to ballroom dancing!
But anyway, the show has really come a long way since season 1. I still remember the very first champion of DWTS: Kelly Monaco, who plays Samantha McCall on "General Hospital". I remember that wardrobe malfunction she had that almost caused her to flash the whole country! Poor girl. Her partner, Alec Mazo, was a very... interesting person. I don't know, he just kind of gave me the creeps. I didn't really like him. But he's obviously a great teacher, because they were the very first champs of "Dancing With The Stars!" I wonder who will win this season...
